OBAMA – THE PETULANT CHILD BLAMER-IN-CHIEF

It is fascinating to me to watch the current resident of Pennsylvania   Avenue work.  First of all he seems to do little of that.  I think it would be interesting to put his office time as a percentage to his living in the White House up against other people who have been in the same situation.  I understand he has a 24hr a day job.  Yet he is on the golf course often.  He parties often.  When the 3AM phone call came on Benghazi it appears he went to bed and we know he went to Vegas.

Today more information will be coming out about the actual goings on in Benghazi.  It will now be interesting as well to see if news agencies other than Fox and the one lady at CBS – Sharyl Attkisson – are as persistent or even cover this hearing that is happening today.  The one question that people do not even acknowledge is “Was Benghazi ignored as it did not fit the narrative before the election?” Romney tried and sadly backed down.

If in fact it comes out that a ‘stand down’ order was delivered I hope the news agencies go after this with the fervor and persistence they did with Watergate or Iran Contra or Lewinsky.  If the information has any hint of a cover up then it deserves scrutiny.  Real scrutiny that only a free and unbiased press can give it.  Unbiased being the operative word and I have written about this before.

The current President continues to ignore this.  He continues to lead with a hands off approach and blame and finger pointing.  He reminds me of a child who is in fear of being caught and says “He did it” or “it wasn’t me” or the old “I don’t know”!  As recent as yesterday he did it again with referencing the ‘red line”.

I watched the news last night with eyes wide open in disbelief.  My only comment was “Really?”  The President was questioned about his ‘red line’ with Syria.  [To me it appears to be more of a squiggly faded pink line as it is not being upheld.]  He actually said in an answer to a question that he wanted to be certain.  He had evidence that Syria had gassed its own people yet he wanted to be certain.  He said he would not be able to motivate the world leaders with the suspicions they had heard and needed fact.  He said we went to war on evidence once before and we know how that turned out or words to that effect.  Once again it was a Blame Bush.  Really this far into HIS second term he is still blaming Bush.  Obama is the kid who does no wrong.  Obama the kid who points to the others – “they did it!”

I think this man is the worst leader we have had in my time on this earth.  His ineptness actually frightens me.  He is leading this country to distrust and likes it.  I have compared him to Nixon often and that is as far as I will go.  Others go further.

One thing I have not done with this blog is to use someone else’s words to fill my page.  I have thought of guest bloggers and left it at thought.  Today I am making an exception and going further.  I tried to cut and paste the entry and it did not work.  So I am introducing a facebook page to you my blog readers.

I awoke this morning with little on my mind.  I had a break from sleep about 2AM and finally fell back to dreamland restlessly.   I am hoping this is one of the last few nights of that.  If I do not sleep I am little good the next day.

I had no idea what the topic would be for this days blog.  As it does my mind went to issues of the day, what is in my heart, on my mind, anything grasping to find an interest on which to comment.  I went to facebook and voila a bevy of topics.

One of the first items I ran across was an inspiration quote from a friend who shares something almost daily along these lines intended to uplift I believe.  It is a quote from Tennyson.

”Words, like nature, half reveal and half conceal the soul within.” – Alfred Lord Tennyson

I thought about this and know I have written about words before.  I also think I have heard others speak about the importance of words.  I was right Barack Obama said the following during the campaign.  It does not matter which one as I believe he has not stopped.

“Don’t tell me words don’t matter! ‘I have a dream’, just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self evident that all me are created equal’ – just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself?’ – just words. Just speeches.” Obama preached, using the famous phrases to question the notion that words and speeches do not make a difference.

“It’s true that speeches don’t solve all problems, but what is also true is if we cannot inspire the country to believe again then it doesn’t matter how many policies and plans we have,” Obama said in front of the Wisconsin Democratic Party’s Jefferson Jackson dinner, “That is why we just won eight elections straight, because the American people want to believe in change again. Don’t tell me words don’t matter!”

Is this about words or empty rhetoric?

If words matter how come he is not more careful about what he says.  Trayvon Martin could be his son.  Professor Gates creates an incident so Obama calls police ‘stupid’.   The current resident of 1600 PA Ave came up with the idea of Sequester.  Then he said in October of 2012 that it “would not happen”. Then he said in March,

“These cuts are not smart,” Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. “They will hurt our economy and cost us jobs. And Congress can turn them off at any time – as soon as both sides are willing to compromise.”

Then he said they would not be so bad.  Which is right?

MIXED MESSAGES

GOOD MORNING WORLD

I got up this morning and the sky looked weird.  Of course I was not up at the crack of dawn.  Those days are long gone and usually only seen if I had been up all night.  The sky looked not bright yet not overcast.  It was like someone was holding a light behind a curtain and that was the light.  I know rain is forecast for the day so assumed it was about to arrive.  I now can see drops on the windows so my shopping will be in the rain – yuck!  ‘Shoulda’ gone yesterday!

I like most of you have been watching the news of the bombing in Boston.  My heart aches for those who died especially for the little boy Martin who is all over the news with his sign for Peace.  My prayer is that he knows the ultimate peace now – the peace of Christ.  Then again if he is not a Christian the peace his faith promises.

The mixed messages we get from an ever evolving investigation have been frustrating me some.  While I am not sure I want it to change, the 24 hour news cycle can get in the way of real information.  It also can help as the word gets out to encourage everyone that has information and/or pictures to bring them forward as it might help. Pictures are important.  In the book, “The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo” wasn’t it a picture she found that solved the case?

It still is confusing.  They had a suspect.  They didn’t have a suspect.  They now have two maybe?  It is a tan backpack the picture shows.  They have black back pack material that has been sent to the FBI for scrutiny.  Look, we all have seen the CSI shows and heard the head Medical Examiner say let the evidence tell us.  While it is important to be current in the news cycles lets not make up news.  Let the evidence show us.

On another moment of mixed messages.  Our current President refused to call this a terror attack.  Really???  A bomb by any means is an act of terror is it not?  How many times were kids accused of ‘terrorizing their friends’ with cherry bombs.  Please let us call it what it is.  A bomb went off in Boston. If it was not a public works problem, it is a terror attack.  Now the other side is we actually do not know from where this attack came.  The evidence will tell us.

Mixed message #3.  Quote from yesterday’s newswires……..

“All in all, this was a pretty shameful day for Washington. But this effort is not over. I want to make it clear to the American people: We can still bring about meaningful changes that reduce gun violence so long as the American people don’t give up on them.” -President Obama speaks about the background check plan defeated in the Senate

The mixed message here is if it is okay to do a background check on guns why is it not okay to have photo id to vote?

Mixed messages about guns is really in the forefront as well.  Guns plural did not kill children in Newtown a crazy man did.  The weapons he used were legally obtained.  Guns did not kill people in Boston this week.  It was a bomb.  Guns did not kill the people of Waco today.  That was an accident.

Lastly the mixed message of killing children.  All over facebook are notices about how sad it is that our children are being killed.  The women’s groups are all out with their causes as well.  I have often wondered where the rights of girl babies are when they are aborted?  The fact is more children have been killed by abortion, which is legal, than by any bombs or guns.  How does this make sense?  How can we justify this killing?

More mixed messages of the week include the protocol of sending a contingent to the funeral of Hugo Chavez and we sent no one to the funeral of Margaret Thatcher who in her term in office was a great friend to America?

We are told not to politicize tragedies and in is first speech about Boston BHO said:

“I’ve updated leaders of Congress in both parties, and we reaffirmed that on days like this there are no Republicans or Democrats — we are Americans, united in concern for our fellow citizens.”

I am not being picky here.  When I hear the words Congress I do not hear both parties.  I hear a whole.  Why did he not simply say we that he updated congress and all share concern?

The current President also said we would get to the bottom of Benghazi and then did little to help in the investigation.  He promised the victims of Sandy that all would be well and they would get “immediate” attention after the event which was just before the election.  He told Newtown families:

“We’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics.”

He is a President not King and cannot guarantee anything.  We have a governmental process.  If the words were meant for inspiration then they have been proven to be like a metal trashcan.  Solid on the outside and hollow on the inside.  So as to his words, which are generally mixed messages I say,  “What difference, at this point, does it make?” to quote Hillary Clinton.

What I know is that the truth of Benghazi will come out.  England will forgive our breach of protocol.  There will be another election in 2016.  AND I know Boston.  I lived there.  I know all that can be done will be done.  The American people once again are leading the way not the leadership.  The American people sang at the Bruins game.  The American people played “Sweet Caroline” at the Yankees game.  The American people will persevere and be stronger.

TRAGEDY AND TERROR

I do not need to even mention the incident that happened in Boston yesterday.  Anyone that watches television at all of course was inundated with pictures of the bombing at the end of the Boston Marathon.  There was no getting away from the news.  I was surprised and pleased that some networks went back to regular programming in the evening.  I think that news is very important.  I question how healthy it is not to be able to get away from it.

In 2003 there was a warning that the Boston Marathon could be a target.  I am certain even they knew that, without the notation of the threat, after 9/11.  After that tragedy the world changed for Americans.  High alert was the name of the game for years at landmarks and events in our country.  We had become a target of terrorism like many countries we used to see only on the news.

As we were flipping channels after our evening of TV viewing we came across Tom Brokaw speaking on NBC.  He said that he had been thinking about the day and realized his grandchildren and great grandchildren would never know the innocence that he had known as a child.

That resonated with me.  Oh the beautiful innocence that I knew growing up in my small town hometown.   I do remember a sense of foreboding when the planes from Loring Air Force base flew over our home during training mission and the newspaper had bold black headlines.  This would have been the Bay of Pigs or around then in the early 60s.  I was 13 give or take and not that aware of world news except for the newsreels at the movies.  Otherwise the world was free, fun and open to my dreams.

Yesterday our oldest grandson – 13yrs – called almost as soon as he got home from school.  He asked, “Are you alright Grandmama?”  I assured him that yes Boston was still a few hours north of me and all was well here.  I questioned his geography lessons and then remembered that we really did not do much of that till Jr. High and that is where he is in school.  I also remembered that we drive by Boston going to Maine and he has been with us.  Regardless his thought was fear for us and our well being.  How sad really and there it is.

Our children were predominantly raised in the woods of southern Maine and I believe grew up in innocence from world affairs.  They experienced tragedies like spaceship explosions.  The world at war was not something that entered the picture.  The world attacking our own homeland was not even a thought.  America was tough and strong.

I believe we still are and that as a nation we are still trying to hold onto the innocence of unfettered freedom that we all used to enjoy.  We are a young nation only 200+ years old really.  Perhaps it is time for us to put away childish things and realize that the world is no longer secure.

Perhaps we need to look this terror in the eye and shake a fist at it as a rebellious teen would do.  We need to use that teenaged energy to say we will not let you, the bad world, turn us into cowering people.  We will find the strength to continue.  We will find the same strength that led our forefathers to sail across an ocean.  We will look to this day anew and face what is before us.

America is a wonderful place.  We are resilient.  We are all Bostonians today.  We will pray and help and heal.  I am certain a new resolve will be formed as it is after the tragedy of this kind of terror.   We will choose peace for our land.  We will go back to raising our children.  We will go back to our jobs.   We will go back to our churches.  We will not let this act of violence frame our references.  We will choose the America in which we want to live.

I am certain this America will be more secure.  I am certain that sporting events will have tougher security.  Airports will be more cautious and implement all their procedures.  America will not let cowardly terrorist – whether lone or with a group – change us forever.

It did not happen after 9/11 or any other of the recent attacks like FortHood or Aurora or Wisconsin Sikh temple.  We were AMERICA!  We were still caring for our neighbor and helping the sick in our hometowns.   We were still running toward the emergencies to be of use and take care of those in need.  We are still responding in faith and love to those who need us.

We ARE AMERICANS.  We believe in an ideal of a country that is free and full of brave people.  It still is.  The choice is ours.  We are confronted over and over again with violence and respond as individuals with kindness.  That is good and right as we choose to live in Peace.

We are AMERICA and we will be the stronger for this.  I believe that our country will find the strength we need to forge forward.  I can envision us as a large figure arising from the ashes of this latest bomb.  I see men and women coming together not to be violent, coming together to be vigilant and find the air of strength that will easily destroy by threat any other actions.  I see this country shaking its fist at the world and saying “No More!”   We will not be victims!  We will protect ourselves so that our citizens may enjoy peace and innocence once again.

THE NEWS AND NOTORIOUS KILLERS

The following are noted killers.

John Wilkes Booth/Oswald/Sirhan Sirhan/John Hinckley/Mark David Chapman

OJ Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. It was all over the news for a year.  There were even parodies of the people involved on late night television show.  Everywhere you turned there was a news report of this trial.

The same can be said of Casey Anthony on trial for killing her daughter Dec 1 2008.  The trial ran for 6 weeks reports daily.  Now we are inundated with the news of Jody Aries.

The following are noted serial killers.

David Richard Berkowitz (born Richard David Falco; June 1, 1953), also known as the Son of Sam and the .44 Caliber Killer, is  a serial killer who killed six victims and wounded seven others beginning in the summer of 1976.  His was highly publicized in the press and the killings achieved worldwide fame as New York City was terrorized by this man.

Intense coverage of the case by the media lent a kind of celebrity status to Berkowitz, and observers noted indignantly that he appeared to enjoy it. In response, the New York legislature enacted new legal statutes, known popularly as “Son of Sam laws“, designed to keep criminals from profiting financially from the publicity surrounding their crimes. Despite various amendments and legal challenges, the statutes have remained law in New York, and similar laws have been enacted in several other states.

Another serial killer was Ted Bundy who was also a rapist and kidnapper.  He confessed to 30 homicides in seven states between 1974 and 1978.  It was reported that he called himself the ‘most cold-hearted son of a bitch you’ll ever meet”.  A member of his defense team said he “was the very definition of heartless evil.”

John Wayne Gacy, Jr. another serial killer and rapist was known as the “Killer Clown”.  He was convicted of the deaths of ‘at least’ 33 teenage boys.  The killings were committed between 1972 and 1978 in Chicago.

Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

Most recently Mass Murders such as Columbine, Colorado Theater, the Arizona Mall, the Uni bomber, Fort Hood, The Beltway sniper, Oklahoma bombing, Sandy Hook and the Twin Towers on 9/11 have made news that never seemed to stop.

All of the above were in our face in our newspapers and on out television channels network and cable both.  We heard the intimate details of all the cases or trials unless police kept information to solve the crime.  The news was filled day in and day out with the who, what and where of the crimes.  One could not pick up a paper or print media without finding page one covered with pictures of the accused and the latest update.

Once again is amazes me and points out clearly how the news is now being manipulated when a serial killer in Philadelphia fails to make the paper anywhere else other than locally.  CBS and CNN covered the mass killings when the man was arrested back in 2011.   No one, with the exception of FOX News has said anything about the lives of innocent children being taken.  Let me repeat this NO NEWS ORGANIZATION has covered the serial deaths of babies in Philadelphia. I am not going into the gruesome details.  I do not even read what little there is out there about this as it turns my stomach.

It is interesting to note that since Kirsten Powers of FOX and The Daily Beast wrote her column on the lack of coverage that today I note that CNN and The Huffington Post have articles on Bing!  I also must note that The Huffington Post also had an article earlier in March.  Below is the Kirsten Powers column that was printed in USA today earlier this week.  ALERT:  it is graphic.

All of this is that the story of Dr. Kermit Gosnell who is accused of the death of one woman in his abortion clinic and seven live babies.  The Doctor is on trial for the brutal murders of 7 babies older than 24 weeks who reportedly were moving after being aborted.

NOTE:  this is an abortion clinic where I believe lives are taken everyday as I believe life begins at conception.

Can the obvious avoidance of this case by the media be that it is about abortion?  They certainly report on all other serial killings.  Why not this one?

I post this today to be part of the information highway.  If serial killings are the norm in mainstream media why has Dr. Kermit Gosnell not made more news?  What he has done certainly is questionable.  If I were on the jury, with what little information there is out there now, my vote would be guilty as charged.

Isn’t news simply news?  Are we being fed stories the media wants us to read or are we getting all the news that’s fit to print?  You be the judge.

JESUS CHRIST

I am not certain of any two other words in our vocabulary that can be used to inflict more angst in any one human being.  There are those that use these two words with love and devotion and humility.  Mother Theresa immediately comes to mind.  Or even the Pope and Pope Francis specifically as he has been in the news of late.

These words are often used with venom and people spit them out of their mouths as if they were disgusting food.  These two words create nations even people to go to war of reality with guns or words alone.  I am not aware of any two other words that are so diverse to the good or the bad.

Most recently a school in Jackson, Ohio which is 60 miles south of Columbus is removing a picture of Jesus Christ from their hallway.  It has been hanging there since 1947.  I understand it was given in memory of a teacher (not certain) who had passed away in an accident.  It was a gift to the school to honor someone.  The school has chosen to remove it rather than fight the ACLU.  It is a financial choice on their part.

This hits one of my pet peeves.  The Constitution does not say we have a separation of church and state.  It says the government cannot establish a national religion.  I wish I had the money to take a case to court against the ACLU from this point of view.

This Easter we watched the conclusion of the miniseries “The Bible”.  Not fans of commercials we have it on our DVR so we can watch it and zap the interruptions out!  As an aside – we do like commercials when they ARE the show as in “Funniest Animal Commercials” that bring our grandchildren to gales of laughter.  The fun of that is watching them laugh and joining in!

Back on track………..This mini series has created quite the talk.  I hear, and have not investigated, that the entertainment industry- one can no longer simply say Hollywood – is gearing up for Biblical movies as winners in the profit field yet again.

In my search of biblical movies I was interested to see that many have been made.  They have been about Christ, apostles, women in the Bible and specific events.  I was pleased to see that my conclusion that more had been made in the 50s and 60s than any other time.  I found 9 English speaking movies in the 50s and 5 in the 60s.  Realizing that I missed a few I am certain that is still 15 plus or minus movies with a scriptural basis made within 20 years.

In later years specifically 1973 we were treated with “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Godspell”.  Probably the most controversial was “The Last Temptation of Christ” in 1988.  The most recent large box office movie about Jesus Christ prior to this mini series was “The Passion of Christ” by Mel Gibson in 2004.  I cannot watch the end of that particular movie without real pain and tears running down my eyes.

This whole dialogue this morning began with an email sent by a friend that included pictures of a cross in Groom, TX.  All you have to do is ‘bing’ cross Groom, TX and it will come up.  Or use this link: http://www.crossministries.net/  It is the world’s second largest cross.  Had been #1 until the cross was built in Effingham, Illinois.  I wrote about that earlier in a blog and actually saw it twice this last week!  When it was built it was 2.4m taller than the one in TX.

As I looked and investigated and wrote this morning there is something niggling at the back of my brain.  With “The Bible” being such a hot and the talk of more movies of the same type is there something spurring this interest?  Is it simply profits?  Is there something else?

Could the something else be the unsettledness of the country?  In the 50s and 60s we were embroiled in the Korean War and Vietnam?  Today this little twit in Korea is flexing his miniscule muscle.  Is there any correlation?

In the 50s and 60s we were a changing country.  In the 50s we were coming out of WWII and the new war – the Cold War – was beginning.  We did not trust Communism to the point of having Congressional hearings and calling forth some of our own with unverified accusations in some cases.  We fought the Korean War and covert operations throughout the world were used to try to help others (?).  We began the space race and most people owned televisions this decade.  Television began what was to become known as “The Golden Age” in the 1950s.  Music changed and we met Elvis!

In the 60s we had The Beatles!  The Grateful Dead!  The Stones!  Bob Dylan!  We now had ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Wonderful World of Disney’, ‘The Tonight Show’ and various other situation comedy and variety shows.  The most controversial of the time would probably have been ‘The Smothers Brothers’ as they were outspoken against the government.

The term counter-cultural was born and lived out in the 60s.  ‘Hippies’ formerly Bohemians were ‘dropping out’.  These people were railing against the lifestyle of the norm and materialism.  They were revolting against conservatism, materialism and conformity.  Hippies wanted a more liberal society as they questioned authority and government. They wanted more freedoms for women and minorities.  They were openly living ‘free love’ with their sexual revolution.  Drugs and psychedelic music were the new norm for them.  The Feminist movement got a push with the publication of “The Feminine Mystique” by Bette Friedan.  The Gay movement we know today began.

New Left

The rapid rise of a “New Left” applied the class perspective of Marxism to postwar America, but had little organizational connection with older Marxist organizations such as the Communist Party, and even went as far as to reject organized labor as the basis of a unified left-wing movement. The New Left differed from the traditional left in its resistance to dogma and its emphasis on personal as well as societal change. Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) became the organizational focus of the New Left and was the prime mover behind the opposition to the War in Vietnam. The 1960s left also consisted of ephemeral campus-based Trotskyist, Maoist and anarchist groups, some of which by the end of the 1960s had turned to militancy.

Radical leaders of these movements were Bill Ayers, Abbie Hoffman, Bobby Seale, Bernadette Dohrn, Angela Davis and Saul  Alinsky whose ideas spoke to some U.S. college students and other young organizers became part of their strategies.

The Hispanic and Chicano movement began and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed.

President John Kennedy was assassinated.  President Nixon, liar and crook in chief, was elected.  We experienced The Bay of Pigs, and Gulf of Tonkin.  The Vietnam War grew and the Berlin Wall came down.

All of this happened in 20 years.  So why all the attention to Jesus Christ and faith today like in the 50s and 60s?  Is our world today like then???  Too much for my small mind today.

I am so sick and tired of public figures telling lies.  I have written about this over and over.  Stephanie Cutter lied during the campaign.  Debbie Wasserman Schultz has also lied and when confronted said the commentator heard wrong.  Bill Clinton asked what the definition of is was to sideline questions.  Nixon said he was not a crook and yet his involvement in Watergate led to other conclusions.  Lastly there are numerous celebrities that lie for a living it seems!

Lies, Lies & More Lies

Honestly I was not finding the definition of the word lie!  It was as frustrating as what started me on this path.

Then I had an ‘ahah’ moment.  I was in the google chrome toolbar and searching the news link not the search bar.   Again what I do not know about a computer could fill many oceans!!!  So I simply clicked on google search and up popped the wikipedia definition.

There is a great movement underfoot to take Phil to trial as he lied.  That is Punxsutawney Phil to be exact!  I awoke this morning to 2 inches of snow and it is still coming down.

Facebook has a picture of Phil holding a sign that says “I LIED.”  The Huffington Post has an article that indicates that some are seeking the death penalty for Phil.  NBC reported that an Ohio Prosecutor says Phil should be predicting from 6 ft under and pushing up daisies!  Fox goes further in reporting that the prosecutor even filed papers in Butler County, Ohio.  This was met by the following response:

But Jeffrey Lundy, vice president of the Punxsutawney Ground Hog Club, said Gmoser will have a fight on his hands if he tries to arrest the famous groundhog.

I wrote about ‘dump snow’ last week and admit I was terribly wrong.  It is still coming down and many of our local schools are having delayed starts.  Seriously it is spring!  Then again had Phil predicted differently we would not be upset at all?  It is perception is it not or is it preparation or both?

Had Phil said 6 more weeks of winter we would have been okay with the snow the last week of March.  It would have been predicted.  We would have been prepared.  If Phil had predicted snow and spring came early we would have been prepared and willing to toss angst away and enjoy the spring weather.  That relief does not work when we are prepared for spring and winter persists.

As for Phil I do not believe there was intention in his act so according to the definitions it was not really a lie.  As I look out the window though I cannot help it, I am conjuring up the “Queen of Hearts” from Alice in Wonderland and want to say “Off with his head”!!!

I am not violent by nature and will just leave it with a whining  “Darn it all Phil.  You said spring was coming!”  It is throwing me for a tizzy.  As much as I like winter I now have myself all revved for spring and I do not like change thrown upon me.  I guess I can adapt for a day or two!!!

THE WORLD STILL WORKS

This morning the television still works.  The news is on and I am hearing that the current resident of the White House did in fact sign the Sequestration. The sun rose.  The sky is blue.  The squirrel is still stealing the bird seed from the feeder.

The White House told us that we would lose jobs, services – well their own words:

I wrote extensively about how the White House came up with this idea.  In fact the President said he would not sign any bill unless these automatic cuts were in there back in 2011.  How owns it.  It is his and now he is calling everyone else dumb.

I told someone and posted on facebook that I believe this administration is acting like the Keystone Cops.  I was reminded the Keystone Kops did not know what they were doing.  The President knows what he is doing.  According to his own words this man has said he wants to ‘transform America’.  Perhaps Sequestration, the 1.2% reduction in already increased spending, may be the first step to restoring America to what our Founding Fathers wanted us to be all those many years ago.

I am tired of this man and his lack of transparency.  I thought it would be fun to be more involved in current events and writing about them.  This morning I find myself simply worn out from the vitriol, lies and manipulations.  He says he is not a dictator.  Perhaps that really is what he wants to be.

I am weary following the President’s deceptions.  Perhaps it is these darned symptoms of stuffy nose and headaches that have set in that are getting to me.  Hopefully my spit and vinegar will return.  While I am a small voice and tired it does not seem right to give up now.

WHERE’S THE TRUTH?

I was riding home from Costco the other day and listening to talk radio and Rush Limbaugh said, “How do you know if it is true?”  I said right out loud, “I was going to write about that tomorrow.”  Do not think Rush heard me.  By the way before you ignore me due to my listening choices you might want to check out how often this man has been correct in his voiced opinions.

How do we know what is truth anymore?  Does everyone really lie?  Sadly a lot of people do.  I only trust what I can hear if the speaker is saying the words and those I double check.  For instance Nancy Pelosi did tell us ‘we had to pass it before we could read it’.  Truly what kind of logic is that?

Our President has been caught in multiple lies and still is the President.  In fact he was voted back into office despite the lies he told.  I hear you out there “what lies?”

1- we could keep our healthcare – we cannot if an employer does not offer it

2- there were no ‘death panels’ – there will be non- medical people deciding whether we need a treatment

3- it would save us money – it is going to cost anywhere from $2500 up per family

4- he said it would not pay for abortions – it does

5- he called them terrorists from the beginning – he did not specifically for over 14 days

Sen. Harry Reid accused Mitt Romney of not paying taxes.  He ‘heard it from a reliable source’.  Romney documented paying millions in taxes.

Wasserman-Schultz lied during the DNC about who intervened to get God back in the platform.  Stephanie Cutter lied. I documented that at the time as well as other lies.

I watched Bill Clinton lie.  I watched Martha Stewart lie.  I watched Richard Nixon lie.  I watched TV anchors lie.  I am sure that probably others have lied as well and I just did not see them do it.  I am documenting what I have seen.  How can anyone believe anything that is happening now?  How can we know what is true?

Our current President sold the world on green energy and it has cost us financially.  Solyndra lost money went bankrupt and now has billions in refuse of which it needs to dispose itself.   Other green energy business have gone out of business costing America.  The green energy cars have been a flop despite the amount of monies spent on them.  He told us this was the way to a better world.  He told us again in the State of the Union.  Is this true?  It wasn’t for Solyndra so why are we listening again?

I do not understand why people do this in this day and age of the computer as they can easily be fact-check or reviewed to find the truth.  The thing is we are getting to be like the boy who called ‘wolf’.  When do we believe?  Who do we believe? Hillary Clinton said all Bill’s problems were from a vast right wing conspiracy.  Are conspiracy theories how things are running?  Is everything a conspiracy?  Is there no clarity?  I do not see it.  Our truths are being clouded until it is almost hard to know what is real.  That is a bad place to be I judge.

This past week an ex-cop from California, Christopher Dorner, is a hero to some as he believes he has been wronged by the Police Department.  So he kills police officers?  This makes him a hero?  Is this not a little warped?

The Pope has announced he will step down on February 28th.  An interesting decision in modern times.  Already some are asking if he is doing this to escape situations that exist in the Vatican.  How do we know?  Can we not trust that he has prayed and decided this is the direction God wants him to take?

Finally we hear that Hillary Clinton called someone the night of the attack in Benghazi.  This truth, if it is from Leon Panetta, puts a whole new spin on her words “What difference, at this point, does it make?”

There are those that say and try to show that the Newtown massacre did not happen.  I saw some of the videos and it can leave one asking questions.  Are the facts real or distorted?  Where is Walter Cronkite the one news man we trusted for years?

Where is truth in our news?  Is there none?

There is a word we need to understand truth with exaggeration or spin?  Where is the whole truth and nothing but the truth?  When are real reporters going to go back to digging to find the truths?

TRUTH IS…..

GOOD MORNING WORLD

This morning is a cold foggy bleak day. It is a Monday and I like rainy days and Mondays so will take this day and enjoy it!  I have been up for awhile.  The surprise of the morning was the doorbell ringing at 7:20.  I discovered the USPS was delivering packages early.  Glad I was not still in bed!  Neither rain nor slow nor early morning evidently will stop the mail.

I checked emails and facebook looking for a topic for this morning.  While I fully intend to explore the traditions of the season further it seemed a little redundant to do the same today.  I came across a ‘plague’ on a friend’s wall.  It said,

“The only people who are mad at you for speaking the truth are those people who are living a lie.  Keep speaking the truth.”

Well that has tantalized my brain as being a fully loaded statement.  What is truth?  I am certain philosophers have been and will continue debating this for eternities.

I went to the web of course.  I found the definition:

As I looked through the notations it came to me to wonder is there a definitive truth anymore?  There is black and there is white and there is gray.  It seems to me that these days we are living in a lot of grey and calling it truth.  Even in the color there is no definitive spelling.  Did you note I used both?  Both gray and grey are acceptable as spelling of the color!  Trivia of the day.

Back to truth.  For me truth is that abortion kills a baby.  I do not understand how anyone can see it any other way.  When a sperm enters an egg, the egg is altered to become something different – a baby.  Argue as you will this is scientific the sperm and egg joining create a baby.  Now perhaps you do not believe there is life there which is your truth.  I am not so smart so will accept that the meeting of the sperm and egg create life in the baby, the name for the new organism that was created by the joining.  If we can accept all the other processes of the body as truth why not the process of reproduction?  Cancer for instance creates tumors in the body, new organisms and not good of course, and still they are living organisms inside of us.  For me life at conception is truth.  An abortion kills a baby.

Truth is you cannot spend more than you take into your accounts.  Does anyone remember taking basic accounting in high school?  It was part of our math courses.  The out column had to be justified by the in column.  Both balances at the end had to agree.  What about this does our government not understand?  Yet here we are trying to make a deal to spend more than we take in once again.  The President and his promises have been depicted by Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.  In my life I do not believe she has EVER not taken it away.  What makes anyone think that the President will keep his promise to cut spending after he gets what he wants.  He has kept few promises.  He is in his office less than any other President has been so how is any of this getting done?   Even Democrat Erskine Bowles of the commission says we have to cut spending. Truth is you cannot spend more money than you have or have coming into your budget.

Truth is if we tax the rich they are going to move someplace else.  Check out the migration of California to Texas and Maryland to Pennsylvania when taxes were passed in those states that taxed the wealthy at an extreme rate.

Truth is if we do not get our act together as a nation we will quickly look like Europe.  Millionaires in France are being taxed at 75% and what is happening.  They are leaving the country.  Who will pay the bills now?

Truth is we cannot sustain our entitlement mentality and be a successful Republic.  You cannot spend more than is coming in as I said above.  If we have people in need of entitlements then we have a need to support them.  When entitlements cost more than we can tax then we need to re-look at how we are giving our money away and to whom.  Including countries.  We cannot give and give and remain fiscally responsible.  I am not talking about Social Security or Military – they are earned sums.  I am not also talking about people who are really in need.  I am talking about abuse.  Truth is if the programs were audited and abuse removed solvency might be quick behind.

Truth is you cannot lie and think it will not ever come back.  Obama said “Osama is dead and Al Quada is on the run.”  Half truth.  As it is coming out now Al Quada is growing in many areas of North Africa.  Truth will come out now that the election is over.

Truth is a funny thing.  I worked very hard in 1964 for Civil Rights and racial equality.  Now the truth is that we may have reached a reverse spot.  Black people are part of our country and our families.  As a nation we finally acknowledge their wonderfulness and contributions to our world.  I had the sense that we were blending and equality is a reality.  Now I am hearing Al Sharpton, Samuel L Jackson and other wealthy prominent black people speaking against whites.  Slavery was wrong and I believed we had faced that truth and rectified it to unity.  What is going on now?  Truth is I do not understand.

I used to sell cosmetics.  I discovered that black women had as much trouble finding the best match for their skin color as we white women did.  The colors of foundation I carried were a whole array of beauty – from an alabaster to a dark rich deep black.  I knew and was affirmed by this experience that color is only skin deep.  Martin Luther King said it best when he spoke of character.  He said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”  Isn’t that a truth we can all live by today?

Abortion, politics, race – think I have covered all the untouchables in the discussion of the politically incorrect truth.  Fairly heavy topics.  Think I’ll stop the infusion of energy coffee and relax and go wrap some Christmas gifts!

IN YOUR FACE – WE WON

Before I began writing on this issue today I went back to my face book page to see if I had made any comments that could be perceived as ‘in your face’ kind of comments after the election.   I was very clear, pointed and vocal before the election which candidate I supported and used my wall to point of the flaws in the other.  I try to only use facts .  I also try to not use bad language or sarcasm.  From Wednesday to Friday I had been re-posting other peoples words and comments more than adding my own words.  I commented that I did not believe that the next four years were going to be any different than the last.

I have been as clear and outspoken with my thoughts and feelings in my blogs.  I do not believe that any of the two that I wrote Wednesday or Thursday used ‘in you face’ language.  Nor was I belligerent as I was full of confusion and lacked understanding about the results of the election.  I was not feeling sour grapes.  I was scared and frightened about what was coming.  I tried to go upbeat and hopeful and move on to what comes next.

Friday I received an email and was excited with the address as it was from someone I thought loved and cared about me – perhaps it was an anniversary greeting?

The subject said:

The link took me to Barack Obama standing to speak – I had seen the same on television on Tuesday.  I sat there reading this email and realized it was intended to not so tongue and cheek point out to me ‘We won.’  I assumed it was to be funny .  It was only snide.  I already knew this.  Since the disappointment of these results I have felt such sorrow for our country.  As the cock-eyed optimist I see not much good coming.  This person does not read my blog and is not on facebook so this was out of left field.

More than this was my feeling of gut punch from this person.  It wasn’t a pleasant greeting for me to receive at this time.  They had no idea what I was feeling.  I have held them in high esteem all my life.  I listened to them.  I often told people who made fun of their ideas that while this person was one who might dream wild, they could make dreams come true.  They worked hard to do that.  They taught me to tithe which we still do while I do not think they do any longer.  I would’ve given a part of my body for them if I had to and have helped them out financially.  When I am sad about our country and trying to move forward I got this garish email.

I responded with the following words I had not said out loud or in print before not even on facebook .  Unfortunately I was terse and sarcastic to hide my hurt:

…..are you really serious? You got your wish. Who are you going to blame now? You will own the Catholic Church losing it’s freedom of religion if the lawsuits are lost. You will own the $5+/gal gas that is coming. You will own the $2500 already in effect increased rate for insurance and the increases in insurance rates that are to come. You will own the destruction of the second amendment that is already being tampered with in the UN issue. You will own the layoffs that are to come – 1700 already announced yesterday in St.   Louis at Boeing. You will own the manufacturing that does not come back to the USA. You will own the destruction of the coal and the people who will be pushed into poverty due to that. You will also own the deaths of the four in Libya as this unfolds to be the incompetence of this administration – but hey – it was a good speech I imagine…..did he have a tear in his eye here as well?? Would not know as I didn’t watch it – I voted for freedom of choice for all Americans and the pursuit of happiness not regression into government slavery!!!

I emailed back, owned my feelings and said that I did not find any of this funny and was insulted and hurt at the insensitivity of it all.  What more can one say?

THE BLOG

Today’s scripture was about the ‘widows mite’.  It speaks about men of the law who devour the widows’ houses.  It reveres the woman.

Mark:12   The Widow’s Offering

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

What does this scripture have to do with all the above in the journal section?  To me it speaks of kindness and giving.  It speaks of love and sacrifice.

What doesn’t it speak about?  It does not speak about taking by taxation.  It does not speak about adding financial burdens onto those who cannot afford it.  It does not speak of generosity above law.

We in this country are already moving back to where we were before Nov. 6th and even further back than that if the job situation is any indication.  Thursday a number of companies announced lay-offs.  It is the opinion of many that the companies had been waiting until after the ele3ction to hire or fire.  Boeing in St.   Louis announced 1700 lay-offs.  They plan a 30% reduction in their managerial staff by the end of 2012.  USCellular is losing 12% of their 8400 workforce.  Vesta Wind Systems is trying to find an investor for 20% of their business at the same time reducing their workforce by 3000.  There are more.  The Blaze.com listed some I mentioned and more and printed a list.

A layoff is tough enough for employees to deal with, imagine hearing the crushing news that your office is shutting down just before Thanksgiving and Christmas… Here are some of the business closings that were announced in just the past two days:

Check it out.  They list 20 companies including some Targets and KMarts all over the country that are closing.

This country before the Great Depression had conditions that included failed banks and uncertainty with those that survived.  The stock market declined and crashed.  As economic realities took hold people stopped spending money and purchasing items.  Items were not produced and the workforce was reduced accordingly.  People not working cannot pay their bills.  The unemployment rate rose.  As business began to fail the government taxed imports more.  Our relations with foreign countries were strained.  (Benghazi speaks to this at this point.  With David Petraeus stepping down we may learn more that is unsettling.)  It seems to me that our country now is not dissimilar to then.

PULLING THE TWO TOGETHER

Since the election I have been full of sorrow for the path that was chosen.  I was so involved in trying to get a different result that it is hard to know what to do now and how to handle the sadness and the fear I am experiencing.  I have tried to be upbeat in my blog to offset this.  The email I received was like pouring salt into a wound.  I am fearful for America.  I pray for the resilience that so often pulls us through.  As hurricane Sandy is teaching us, the government does not function well taking care of peoples need’s.  A quote from a survivor of  Sandy says it all.  They said, “It is never the government, it is the people who will take care of themselves.”

As for the person that sent the email and the people who re-elected our President, I hope all goes well.  Our government will continue in gridlock for some time I fear.  Eventually taxes will go up.  It occurred to me that just as this person taught me about tithing, perhaps every legislator could be required to give away 10% of their own money before they are allowed to spend ours?  Emailer, you are right you won.  You can no longer blame George Bush as through your choice you do truly own it now.  The next time you want to plague or tease someone perhaps you ought to know your audience better.

As for me, I am ashamed by my terse response.  I am upset that I responded so poorly with words I had not wanted to say in that way.   I will have to live with that.  I still prefer the role of the widow and freely giving that with which God has entrusted me.  As for God I believe He transcends political party affiliation.  May God continue to Bless this wonderful Republic.
