I have been watching the past few weeks, as I mentioned previously, as the Middle East is in turmoil.  I watched our government spin this whole thing.  Why did they not come out as soon as the protest started in Cairo and say there is unrest and we are on top of it?  A simple strong statement would have been better than spin.  Instead we got ‘gobbledy gook’ for three weeks.

Yesterday for a second time I heard that our Ambassador in Libya, Chris Stevens, was tortured before he died. I had heard that initially then the assurance was that he died from smoke inhalation.  I did some research and there was a report from Tayyer.org a Lebanese News Agency wrote, “…was killed and representation of his body in a manner similar to what happened with Gaddafi, such as murder.”  I got chills.  Are we getting credible information?

This week in a speech in Vegas President Obama said that Osama and Al Qaeda were dead.  President Harmid Karsi of Afghanistan says Al Qaeda is alive.  At the same time Lara Logan a CBS reporter interviewed a member of the Taliban and he assured her that Al Qaeda was very much alive and training the Taliban.  The question is are we hearing lies or are they not processing reality?

Last week Obama was given some really tough question in an interview by reporters on Univision Mexican Television.  I went back to listen to some of the answers.

On Operation Fast and Furious when asked he answered,

“Well, first of all, I think it’s important to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program, begun under the previous administration,” Obama said. “When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned an inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued — confirming that in fact Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and that the people who did initiate this were held accountable. But, what I think is most important is recognizing that we’ve got a challenge in terms of weapons flowing south, and the strategy that was pursued out of Arizona, obviously, was completely wrongheaded. Those folks who were responsible have been held accountable. The question now is, how do we move forward with a strategy that will actually work?”

The FACTS contradict this.  You can look them up.  I simply googled “George Bush guns to Mexico”.  In fact there was a gun program under George Bush.  The name of this operation was “Operation Wide Receiver” in 2006-2007.  It was a controlled delivery of guns with the Mexican Governments cooperation.  It was a gun-tracking operation not a gun-walking program like Operation Fast and Furious.

I did a small bit of fact checking on this one item and Politifact said it “took place (2009-2011) under Obama’s watch.”  Yesterday there was a news report that a January 30, 2010 raid on a birthday party in Juarez, Mexico used guns from Operation Fast and Furious.  Univision has done a whole special report piece on this Operation.

In this same Univision interview the President was asked about his immigration reform.  He sat there and told these people that he could not get it passed.  He said he needed cooperation.  Was this the truth when he had a super-majority in the beginning of his tenure and did not utilize that to pass legislation that he had promised?  The Univision reporter to his credit mentioned that and also mentioned that he did not keep his promise.  We need these people on our networks.

President Obama has continually said that he inherited an economy in a free fall.  Some information I have heard says that the steepest decline was at the end of ’08 and that the economy was coming back before his stimulus.  I have neither the mind nor education to delve into all of this.  I can however look at pictures and understand items.

I was handed a copy of ‘The Budget for Fiscal Year 2012, Historical Tables’.  It is a chart (a picture) of all the governments’ income and outgo and goes back to 1789.  Interesting fact is from 1789-1849 the government took in $1,160 and spent $1,090.  From 1850-1900 we took in $14,462 and spent $15,453.  It is an interesting table to review and can be found at whitehouse.gov on the web.

The point that was shared with me was the receipt column from 2001 to the present.  George Bush did inherit a good economy and balanced budget despite some deficit spending during the Clinton years.  The chart also showed that the tax cuts that Bush implemented did work and trickle down does work.

I certainly do not want this man re-elected.  I cannot control that.  I can put forth over and over facts for any undecided voters to read to make up their own minds.  Perhaps these are not lies.  Perhaps it is that our President does not understand the tasks before him.
